Pregnancy Skincare is an extremely important topic. Not just during pregnancy, but while trying to conceive and while breastfeeding as well. Many people tend to overlook pregnancy skincare products and only focus on a pregnancy friendly diet. But, what you put ON your body is just as important as what you put IN it. When I was pregnant, trying to get pregnant, and breastfeeding, I looked at every product label that either went in my mouth or went on my body. Our skin is our largest organ! And, guess what? Everything we put on our skin goes directly into our body, which can disrupt our hormones and go straight to your baby through your bloodstream and through your breastmilk.
A lot has changed in all natural beauty products since I was pregnant. It hasn’t even been two years! But, the beauty industry is changing, and there are so many more pregnancy safe skin care brands available. You can read about what I used when I was pregnant HERE, but I can’t believe how many clean beauty brands there are now. It seems that everyone, not just pregnant women, is looking for less toxic products to use on their skin. Whether it is finding the best aluminum free deodorant, retinol alternatives safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding, or the best all natural sunscreens, people are trying to find non-toxic clean beauty products that actually work.
How do I know if a product is safe for pregnancy?
I have always used EWG’s Skin Deep. EWG is the Environmental Working Group. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to gathering information on various brands so consumers can protect themselves and their families from everyday exposures to potentially toxic chemicals in products. It is truly an incredible site, and offers information on toxins in water, produce, diapers, and tons of other products so you can make an informed decision about which brands you want to use in your home. They now have an incredible app that you can download HERE. Just plug in a product, and it will tell you how toxic it is, what the ingredients are, and if its safe for pregnancy.
What is the best clean beauty brand?
One of the biggest brands focused on pregnancy-safe skincare and all natural beauty products is Beautycounter. In fact, Beautycounter is setting the bar for the cleanest standards in the beauty industry. And, they focus on sustainable packaging, making it eco-friendly as well. Unfortunately, I didn’t discover Beautycounter until after I was pregnant. I was looking for a non-toxic tinted moisturizer with sunscreen to replace the IT Cosmetics one I had been using. I spoke with a friend that is a Beautycounter Consultant, and she highly recommended their Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. Since then I have also tried their Vitamin C serum, as well as a few other items. Now I’m hooked on Beautycounter and all of their clean beauty products!

Since every doctor is different and every pregnancy is different, always check with your doctor or health care professional before using any new skincare products. That being said, the vast majority of Beautycounter products are safe for pregnancy. BUT, you do want to avoid anything containing Salicylic Acid. I listed other ingredients to avoid in THIS POST. So, in order of how your should use them, here are the best Beautycounter Products for the perfect morning and evening Pregnancy Skincare Routine.

Is Beautycounter worth it?
Absolutely. Of course their clean beauty products are on the pricier side, but they really do work. If Beautycounter seems too expensive, I have some amazing pregnancy skincare options that are more affordable in THIS POST. Since, I am now in my late thirties, I am really looking to dial in my skincare routine and use products that work. I have been willing to spend a little more on better products that actually make a difference in my skin and my confidence. So far I have loved everything I have tried from Beautycounter, and have seen results in minimizing wrinkles, brightening my skin, and I also love their all natural deodorant. So, in my opinion, Beautycounter makes some of the best products for pregnancy skincare on the market.
